Robotics & Embedded Systems

Turn code into the real world: a blinking light on day one, your own working electronic gadget by the end.

✦ ELECTIVE · +₦25,000

This is an optional elective. The base camp fee covers the core programme; add it at registration for an extra ₦25,000, which covers the components your camper builds with and takes home.

Curriculum

What you'll learn

  • Set up an Arduino from scratch — IDE, board, libraries and your first upload
  • Read a circuit diagram and wire it on a breadboard with confidence
  • Digital vs analog: buttons, a light dimmer, light sensors and the map() function
  • Make things move and make sound: piezo buzzers, servo motors and a joystick
  • Drive an LCD display and build a complete motion-sensing security system
  • Write firmware in C++ — variables, loops, conditionals and libraries (just enough)
  • Debug with the serial monitor and a multimeter when the hardware lies to you
Outcomes

What you'll walk out with

  • A capstone gadget you designed and built yourself — a smart doorbell, weather station, plant-waterer alert or your own idea
  • A portfolio of 6–8 working electronics projects you can demo and explain
  • Your own Arduino kit — board, sensors, servos and components — to keep and keep building with at home
  • The confidence to read a circuit diagram and take electronics apart and back together
Tools you'll use
Arduino Uno R3Arduino IDEBreadboards + jumper wiresServos, sensors & I²C LCDMultimeterSoldering iron (supervised)
Sample project

Pitch your own gadget — a smart doorbell, a weather station, a plant-waterer alert — then build it, debug it with the serial monitor, and demo it live to parents on showcase day.
